Jan Steinhilber Hamburg

Jan Steinhilber is one of Germany’s pre-eminent commercial photographers, highly regarded for his creative vision, technical prowess, and command of design.

Amongst his recent projects is this series of images produced for the new Audi TT catalogue. Commissioning agency was Philipp and Keuntje from Hamburg, with Art Buyer Karen Schwarzer and Art Directors Nina Witschonke and Vanessa Iff. Production company was Claas Cropp Creative Productions and the retouching was done by PX2.

Jan is represented by Nerger M&O in Germany, Muriel Moreau in France, and Horton-Stephens in the UK.

Jeff Ludes Photos Los Angeles

Jeff Ludes’s latest project for Honda was the launch of the entirely new Passport SUV. The team got to demonstrate its off-road capabilities on some amazing scenery in Utah, Colorado, and the California desert.

Amazingly, each of these images is a well-orchestrated Photoshop composite, as the top-secrect vehicle couldn’t be transported. Good planning and good retouching brought it all together.

Jeff then shot a personal project involved a vintage Toyota Land Cruiser and a surfer on the Oregon coast. The small team was greeted with an amazing sunrise over the Pacific.

Infiniti recently brought Jeff on to help develop a new visual style, and this series is one of the first results. Together with his motion team, Jeff shot stills and video, which were then combined in a dynamic edit of four finished pieces. Featured in this Spotlight are two of those, as well as a selection of stills.

Marius Krutschke Frankfurt

Marius Krutschke's recent projects led him into the fascinating mountains of the Italian Alps as well as to different districts of London.

The tremendous mountainous area of Italy’s Passo dello Stelvio forms an excellent background for Marius to combine the technical aspects of car photography with an impressive environment.

The shoot with a Porsche Carrera 4s leads the viewer into London's old industrial districts and represents another example of Marius's visual imagery. It's amazing how the classic industrial environment and car design fit together.

Nate Hassler Los Angeles

Nate Hassler has been busy over the last few months working on a number of projects including a special edition vehicle release with Lexus. The specially trimmed NX crossover featured in this Spotlight was shot in studio and revealed just a few days later at the Chicago Auto Show.

In addition, Nate is working on a number of on-going series including projects with Honda, BMW, Dodge, and featuring retouching by Curve Digital and Gloss Postproduction.

Right now, Nate is gearing up for the upcoming summer season and has plans to do a bit of motor sports shooting in Europe. Every year, Nate travels to the famous Nürburgring racing circuit in the German Eifel region to photograph the 24 hour endurance race. Having shot the last five years in a row, this year Nate has a little something different in store!

Kevin Necessary Los Angeles

A Los Angeles-based photographer and director specialising in automotive, being raised in Lake Tahoe gave Kevin a love for outdoor adventure.

"Summers spent camping, climbing, fly fishing and winters on the ski team. Both parents were auto racers which brought me to shooting cars at the age of 14. This combination of outdoor sports and racing led me to build my first off road race car. I now have seven Baja 1000s under my belt.

I like to bring my adventure sports and racing experience to my shoots. Knowing the capabilities of cars and people in their own environment makes capturing natural and spontaneous moments instinctual.

This year has brought some incredible projects. We spent two weeks throughout Arizona and Utah shooting the new Ford Ranger, directed three spots and print for Toyota 4Runner in the western Sierras, a BMW X1 shoot in Beijing, film and print for Mercedes AMG GLC63 in Joshua Tree, and many more."

Clients include Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan, Honda, Subaru, Toyota, Lincoln, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Yamaha, Lexus, Infinity, Mazda, Zinoro, Hyundai, Jeep, Audi, Dodge, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, Acura, Cadillac, GMC, Goodyear, Indy Car series, Jaguar, Kia, Nike and Porsche.

Paolo Cecchin Photographer & Digital Artist Italy

Paolo Cecchin’s studio is based in Milan. He's always wanted to be a painter, and this is perhaps one of the reasons he personally retouches all the images he produces. Another is his ability to control each stage of the workflow with great precision.

Fascinated by the concept of light, Paolo starts from a black canvas where light sculpts the story through contrast and shadow. This comes from his love of nature and sometimes as a result of hanging off the side of a mountain watching the horizon. Photography grants him a way to reconcile his passion for creativity, energy, adventure and storytelling.

Clients include Alfa Romeo, Audi, Autostrade per l’Italia, Barilla, BMW, Burger King, Campari, Conad, Credito Valtellinese, DB Bahn, Edidomus, Esselunga, Ferrari, Ferrero, Fiat, Geox, Henkel, Hyundai, Intesa San Paolo, Iveco, Kimbo, Lancia, Lavazza, Leroy Merlin, Mediaset, Mitsubishi, Nestlé, Nissan, Orogel, Rai, Regione Piemonte, Riso Scotti, Sky, Unicredit, Vodafone, Volkswagen and Yokohama.

Richard Thompson III Los Angeles

2018 was the most diverse year to date for Richard Thompson, shooting everything from luxury sedans for Audi to the Batmobile for Walmart’s 'Famous Cars' campaign.

Spring and summer saw road trips for Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar, time spent off-road with Land Rover, and the use of a very special "full spectrum" camera to capture the equally rare machines of Monterey Car Week.

Time in between was spent further exploring vibrant colour palettes and developing a new hologram painting technique to create them in-camera, culminating in a commission from Daimler's CASE research group to produce artwork for Mercedes-Benz's recently revealed EQ brand.

SEBASTIEN MAUROY PHOTOGRAPHY Spain

Sébastien Mauroy has just landed from shooting the new Toyota Camry Hybrid in Croatia for Toyota Motor Europe. The first images for the worldwide launch of the Toyota Supra have also been very challenging and rewarding; he has been following and shooting the car from the concept to the prototype all the way to the final product.

"Nothing is impossible, even with extremely confidential material. Whatever techniques are chosen for a given project, I always keep in mind to enhance the beauty of reality."

Also featured in this Spotlight is his Lexus ES studio shoot with full CGI background integration.

Sébastien is an enthusiast by nature and is available for advertising campaigns, product launches, brochures, lifestyle and specific social media assets. He is entirely focused on delivering the best images and seeing large smiles on his clients' faces!

Simon Puschmann Hamburg

Simon Puschmann loves shooting. Although most people have him down as "just“ a car photographer (and he loves his car photography, that goes without saying), he is pretty much an all-rounder in the best sense of the term - the jack of all trades of photography.

Simon began as a still life photographer working from his own studio for many years, before drifting into directing - winning a prestigious award from Sueddeutsche Zeitung - and then somehow slipped into car photography. It makes sense that he is now able to combine all of these fields, shooting and directing cars, still life, people and landscapes. Simon just cannot stop shooting and inventing.

His good friend and well known art director, Iain Ross, recently said: "Simon is beyond cool. He is very, very creative. Unique. Never resting. Not afraid. Always pushing the craft."

Tom Cunningham London

Tom Cunningham is a Cheshire-based photographer with over 20 years worth of UK and international media experience. Tom has carved a niche for shooting commercial vehicles both European and worldwide, studio and on location.

Today Tom runs a full service automotive image provider, regularly shooting everything from PR campaigns and editorial, right through to bigger budget studio and location advertising, anywhere in the world. Although he shoots a small amount of car and travel images, his specialty (and great passion) is commercial vehicles - the bigger the better.

Recent commissions include studio and location shoots for Volvo Trucks and Renault Trucks. Tom was chosen to shoot Volvo Trucks UK’s 50th Anniversary campaign for the launch event, followed by web and print advertising campaigns.
