My name is Ruby Cruden, an ambitious and experimental (film) photographer and director based in Amsterdam. In June 2017, I graduated in International Fashion and Branding at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (Honours Program). My work is characterised by its bold, vibrant colours, high contrasts, dynamic shapes and slight sense of nostalgia. With every still or moving frame, I aim show the viewer how I see the world around me.

In everything I do, I assume a (gender)inclusive and feminist approach. Being a black, neurodivergent and queer woman, I know what it feels like to be excluded from the media landscape, both in representation as in behind the scenes. I strive to create as much visibility and space for these underrepresented, beautiful people, and can help brands to respect and include them for a more balanced media landscape of tomorrow.

My strongest skills lie with photography, directing and branding. By combining these, I’ve gained in-depth knowledge of how to form a concept for your brand and translate it into (moving) images. From A to Z, I know how to capture a mood, message or concept, and present it in a way that strictly aligns with this.
