Danish photographer Niels Busch’s journey into photography started way back in his school art class, where his love for the lens first sparked. Born and raised in Copenhagen, he soon found himself assisting some of the top still life and fashion photographers in the city, jet-setting around the globe.

A freelancing stint in New York came next, but Copenhagen called him back, where he set up his own studio. Always hungry for new adventures, Niels eventually packed his bags and headed to Southeast Asia, adopting a minimalist, Scandi-inspired lifestyle in Thailand. After a few years in paradise, it was time for another move—this time back to the Big Apple, with his family in tow.

Now, Niels works with clients from all corners of the world, shooting in places like Africa, South America, Europe, and beyond. His signature style? A blend of Scandinavian simplicity, natural light, and timeless vibes that never go out of style!

His early career involved assisting top still life and fashion photographers in Copenhagen, which allowed him to travel the world. After a stint freelancing in New York, Niels returned to Copenhagen to open his own studio.

His passion for photography and travel led him to Southeast Asia, where he embraced a minimalist lifestyle influenced by Scandinavian design. After several years in Thailand, Niels and his family relocated back to New York. Today, he works with national and international clients, capturing images across Africa, South America, the US, Europe, and Asia.

One notable instance that exemplifies his resourcefulness was a shoot in Chile. A fire at the first-choice location and a client in a different time zone lead to Niels calmly making the decision to go with the client's second choice of location. This required flying 40 people two hours south and shooting there. The client was very happy and the pictures were delivered on time.

People enjoy his social skills, whether he speaks Danish, English or some of the few words in a number of local languages he has learned throughout his life, or whether it is just body language that is needed to make himself understood.

As a portrait and lifestyle photographer you don't usually have a long time to get to know each other, especially when you are dealing with busy people, such as politicians, business leaders, famous people or top sports athletes, or as a completely different tribe of people from a desolate area in a desert on the other side of the earth. As a photographer, you quickly learn to connect with people.

Getting people to relax in front of a camera can be a challenge, but Niels loves that part. When you genuinely show interest in your subjects, a positive connection forms naturally, creating a harmonious atmosphere, akin to sweet music.
