Over the past 10 years, Claus Morgenstern has turned a passion for photography into his profession. Focused on portrait photography, his work stresses personal contact - regardless of whether he's shooting a CEO, professional models, or regular people.

Shooting on location, in the workplace or from a studio set-up, Claus conducts a close study of his subjects before getting down to work - a technique that has led to many concentrated and sensitive photo series.

Claus Morgenstern is based in Berlin and has focused on portrait, corporate, documentary and advertising photography for the last 10 years. Although he is a founder of a studio community called WERFTSTUDIO in Mannheim, he mostly works on location.

His natural and graphic style is the result of creative intuition and an understanding of light and composition. Claus has an ability to create a casual atmosphere for extraordinary but mainly honest images. Staged portraits, but also sensitively photographed stories can be found in his portfolio.

Working with a network of specialised partners, Claus offers full production management from one central source, demanding the highest quality support and organisation across all elements of a shoot.

He works for German magazines and agencies and shoots corporate communications for many leading companies including Air Plus, Trumpf, Tenneco and WI Bank. Claus speaks German and English and enjoys travelling all over the world for his clients.

In early 2015, Claus Morgenstern visited Innsbruck to shoot a portrait of Mayor Christine Oppitz-Plörer for his series 'Elected Icons'.

He also visited Nordkette mountain, where he discoverd this group of Tibetan monks on their way to visit the local monastery. The resulting images were awarded an Honorable Mention at the IPA awards 2015 and 2016, and were a finalists at the One Eyeland awards 2015.

With projects for the University of Mannheim as well as personal work, in this Spotlight Claus Morgenstern presents his unique way of seeing things. "There is no bad weather: the Alps in a foggy mood is just as perfect as a parking lot in Los Angeles with Michael!"

Claus Morgenstern is an internationally awarded photographer with a love of being in the outdoors as well as a passion for creating moments that capture true emotions from his subjects.

Known for his relaxed, down-to-earth manner, Claus's areas of expertise include corporate, people and editorial photography. 2015 has so far been a blast for Claus Morgenstern, with jobs including KFW Award Pictures, AXEL Springer, Fischer Appelt, and 430,000 printed magazines as a hand out in the newspaper Die Welt.

His most recent work included K+H Architects Stuttgart, a series for the new auditorium in Darmstadt, and five exhibitions in the past three weeks.

Claus participated in three exhibitions: in Dusseldorf, Stuttgart and Hamburg - BFF Wildcard "One exhibition, 03 places", "Double Page" and  "Best of BFF Junioren". With his Series "Elected Icons" he is part of "Heimat X", an exhibition of the Wiesbadener Fototage 2015 at Gallery Kaiser & Cream.
