His latest work includes:

• Projects for Riese & Müller E-bike, the world's first manufacturer fitting main beam and brake lights onto its E-bikes. Maik and his team were responsible for the entire production process and for the direction of the campaign shoot. The spot for Riese & Müller Lumilor takes a look into the future to discover how visibility can lead to safety.
• Ski shoot in Wipptal, Innsbruck. For Maik the season cannot start soon enough. In the autumn, when the anticipation of the first ski tour is particularly great, the ascent takes care of itself. After the first snow has fallen, Maik and his team are drawn to the mountains and are eager to get on the skis!

Maik Scharfscheer's ideal is to work in nature, especially in the mountains.  "There you find special moods, transitions in the landscape, and seasonal changes which I find extraordinary and fascinating. Leica launched an international campaign for their new M10 with Frankfurt-based photographer Maik Scharfscheer.

With the new Leica M10 in tow, he discovers Zanzibar. The excitement of harvesting the ocean, the hustle and bustle of colourful markets, the rough and tumble of boisterous beach football – Maik documents life on Zanzibar. Discover an exciting, exotic world in fascinating pictures.

Maik was accompanied by cameraman Thomas Stoll, who filmed the adventure with a Leica SL.

Maik Scharfscheer is a photographer and director based in Frankfurt. He has realised various photography series for Sport 2000 in Cape Town, South Africa and Germany.

He has had numerous series in various areas like fitness, beachwear and running. Maik's goal is to give his authentic sports photography a special edge through working with light and shadow. Aside from being an international photographer and director, he is also a passionate mountain biker and runner and likes to do winter sports whenever he has time - all of which impacts his work as a photographer.

For Maserati, Maik photographed a series with the world champion Andrea Bertolini in Italy. The photos were taken while it was raining on a race track in Modena. Portraits have been combined with motives of a race car in action.

Featured in this Spotlight, Frankfurt-based photographer and director Maik Scharfscheer presents three new series on his main focus, sports. As a sports enthusiast, it is important for Maik to combine his unique lighting and framing with a technically perfect sporting scene.

The first series was shot in Marrakech, capital of Morocco, for client Leica. Maik photographed on location in one of the first field tests for the brand new 28mm lens for the Leica M. While he normally works with larger teams, it was important to rely on the absolutely necessary: the scenes are reduced to a minimum, the framing combines with the available light, and a great performance by the parkour runner.

For Engelhorn Sports Maik shot a range of different fitness and yoga images. In between Frankfurt's skyscrapers, he developed extraordinary images that put yoga in an entirely different light.

In Cape Town Maik photographed images for client Sport 2000. Reduced to the urban surroundings and the runners themselves, Maik's skills in staging are clearly on show.

Frankfurt/Main-based photographer and director Maik Scharfscheer has implemented several films and shoots for a range of companies and agencies. He develops scripts in conjunction with agencies and often takes on the role of producer.

In the last year Maik has been nominated for over 10 awards. He won a Bronze Lion at Cannes for design project 'The Paper Skin' for Fedrigoni in cooperation with agency Geometry Global. He was also responsible for the Leica campaign with Danny MacAskill in Cape Town which won Gold at the annual Multimedia Film Awards.

Maik also shot the latest TV spot for DHU-Schüssler Salze, Leica T Polishing ('the most Boring Ad') that attracted widespread media attention, the new Leica T image film, and a trailer on the strip in Kitzbühl for Huck Netze.

Maik loves to combine photography and film in one project and enjoys working with manageable creative teams - which explains why he is so often accompanied by cameraman Thomas Stoll, with whom he has developed and implemented numerous projects.
