Title: Glenda in the mist
"I photographed Glenda Jackson for BAFTA to celebrate her 2020 Best Actress Award. She won this for her amazing performance in Elizabeth Is Missing. Because of Covid we could not photograph the winners at a traditional award ceremony. So instead I met with many of the winners individually to photograph them in their home or in a place that matters to them.
I wanted to use this chance to create intimate and unique images that truly captured their personality, I feel I've managed to show some of Glenda's incredible presence in this portrait. Huge thanks to Claire Rees at BAFTA for her support in making this project happen."

Charlie Clift is a photographer and director who works globally for clients such as Bafta, GQ, The Sunday Times Magazine, Coca Cola, and The NHS. He has dangled CEOs upside down, gone undercover with drug cops, set Michelin star chefs on fire and discussed peace with Nobel Prize winners – all in pursuit of a great photograph. His drive is to tell personal stories with a twist of the unexpected.
To keep things fresh, Charlie always has a personal project on the go. From a documentary film capturing life in the circus to his own mental health campaign, he experiments with different ways of creating images and telling stories.
Charlie’s work has been published and exhibited widely. You might have seen it in the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery, The Creative Review Photo Annual, and the D&AD Awards.
