"My passion for taking photographs has been born out of a desire to tell a story with images – to immerse myself in the culture of a country or region, understand its people and their lives, their economic and visual landscapes."
Piers Golden is an award-winning photographer based near London. He shoots both editorial and advertising briefs, specialising in brand development, travel and portraiture. Over the past decade he has contributed to a wide range of publications at home and internationally. From the Cambodian delta to the glaciers of the Dolomites, no challenge is too demanding or ambitious.
Piers has recently exhibited at The Front Room gallery in Canterbury, contributed to all three volumes of Perfect Bound Magazine, and featured in The Sunday Times Travel Magazine’s 100th commemorative special edition.

Piers' practice encompasses travel, portraiture, documentary photography and branding for editorial, PR and advertising clients. He is an award-winning photographer with over 20 years’ experience working worldwide.
This last year was a real trip: spring and summer were spent taking in Sicily’s baroque n’ roll, and indulging in the Sardinian beach life for Serenity Holidays. The 'Go West' editorial involved retracing a Moroccan road trip for Perfect Bound Magazine volume #1, while Piers portrayed corporate warriors high in Docklands coruscating towers of steel and glass for Barclays Bank.
Curious times were spent with Kent’s premier high-end beer brand, Curious Brew, while he tracked down the Kukeri getting high in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria for Perfect Bound Magazine ‘Where the wild things Are’ editorial, volume #2.
From the mountains of Bulgaria to the beaches of Africa, Pier's documented Senegalese fisherman in Casamance for The Gambian Experience.

Travel photographers
Piers began photographing skateboarders for fun, when he was just 13 years old. He carried on skateboarding, but more importantly taking pictures at every opportunity.
He has shot editorially as a contributor for Sunday Times Travel Magazine for over 10 years, and counts Sainsbury's Magazine, CNN Traveller, and Telegraph Ultratravel amongst his clients.
Piers works directly with tourist boards and hotel groups, shooting advertising, reportage and environmental portraiture, and has undertaken travel assignments in over 65 countries.
December finished on a high note for Piers as a runner-up in 'Travel Photographer of the Year 2015'.

2015 has been an exciting year for Piers Golden.
First up, a trip high in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria photographing snowy boutique hotel Villa Gella. From snow to sun, his next project took him to Dunes Electroniques Festival on the edge of the Tunisian Desert, and then to Puglia in southern Italy to photograph traditional artisan cheese-makers.
Later in the spring, Piers travelled to Dubai to shoot a promotional campaign for Dubai Tourism Authority, while in September, a trip to Symi, Greece saw him photographing the distinct fading grandeur of Chorio Town for an editorial. Next up are projects in Sofia and Quinces, Armenia.
This year also brought an Honourable Mention in the Colour Awards 'Photography Masters’ 2015, a third place finish in the Pink Lady 'Food Photographer of the Year' 2015 awards, and a finalist in 'Colours of the World - Travel photographer of the year’ 2015.
