As 2020 kicks into high gear, Nate Hassler is happy to share some of his latest (or at least, most favorite) work from the second half of last year. In summer 2019, Nate took his annual trip to the German Eifel region for the Nürburgring 24 Hour endurance race. 2019 marked Nate’s sixth year in a row attending, so he wanted to try something a bit different and out of the ordinary. Nate has been using glass prisms for a while now, and the N24 was the real torture test for the technique. Nate also arranged for another installment of his “Dirty Cars” series, this time securing a short window to shoot the Toyota GR Supra GAZOO Racing GT4 at the TMG development facility the day after the race. The story and feature images appear in the last ever print issue of Super Street Magazine.

The highlight of fall 2019 for Nate was certainly a project commissioned by SYLVANIA Automotive, Nate spent two days and nights shooting various vehicles in Los Angeles, showcasing various types of lighting solutions. Nate and his team then spent a day in the desert shooting three specially modified off road rigs to showcase SYLVANIA Automotive’s new light bars and other off road lighting accessories.

Nate is looking forward to a great new year!

Nate Hassler has been busy over the last few months working on a number of projects including a special edition vehicle release with Lexus. The specially trimmed NX crossover featured in this Spotlight was shot in studio and revealed just a few days later at the Chicago Auto Show.

In addition, Nate is working on a number of on-going series including projects with Honda, BMW, Dodge, and featuring retouching by Curve Digital and Gloss Postproduction.

Right now, Nate is gearing up for the upcoming summer season and has plans to do a bit of motor sports shooting in Europe. Every year, Nate travels to the famous Nürburgring racing circuit in the German Eifel region to photograph the 24 hour endurance race. Having shot the last five years in a row, this year Nate has a little something different in store!

Fall and winter were busy for Nate, jam-packed with a couple shoots of the highly anticipated new Toyota Supra. Nate spent several days on location in Austin, TX shooting stills and video, followed by a studio shoot featuring two additional color schemes and interior images. In total, Nate produced about 60 images and an extensive video library for the Supra reveal. The new Supra has been murmured about for years; Nate shot the original Toyota FT-1 “Supra” concept back in 2014, and again in 2015, so it was particularly thrilling to see the final production car after all this anticipation. The production car is of course more mild and streetable, but it shares a ton of lines and general vibes with the concept.

In other news, Nate has joined with Gloss Reps for North American representation.

Nate is excited to see what 2019 holds in store!

Nate Hassler started off his summer with two very special Porsches. First, the overall winning car from this year’s Nürburgring 24 Hour endurance race; Nate shot Manthey Racing’s Porsche 911 GT3R in pit lane at the Nürburgring the morning following the race. With dirt, confetti, and empty bottles everywhere, not to mention lingering fog, the dirty “as raced” patina of the car was at home in this strangely serene setting.

Next up, Nate had a go with Manthey Racing’s specially modified Porsche 911 GT3 road car, dubbed the 911 GT3 MR. Headquartered at the Nürburgring and playing a major role in Porsche factory racing, Manthey Racing has done something truly impressive to make this amazing car just a little bit faster, cooler, more nutty.

Back Stateside, Nate checked one off the bucket list - Experience the Bonneville Salt Flats, with help from Mercedes-Benz' AMG C 63 S. Yes, it's fast.

Winter and spring have kept Nate Hassler busy working on a number of projects in Los Angeles and Detroit. At the end of last year, Nate spent a couple of days in the studio in LA with the new Avalon, followed by a shoot on location in Detroit with additional trims, models and colorways. Avalon was unveiled (and well received) at the Detroit NAIAS auto show in January.

Nate would find himself back in Detroit shortly thereafter to shoot the mid-model facelift unveil for Chevrolet Camaro; the aggressive new front end and rear lights give a fresh update to an already great looking muscle car! This project included the SS hero model and convertible RS model.

Right now, Nate is gearing up for his annual pilgrimage to Germany’s famous Nürburgring to photograph and experience the legendary 24 Hour Race for his fifth year in a row. Because race car.

Spring and summer brought Nate Hassler lots of excitement behind the lens. Nate and his crew spent a week in the California and Nevada deserts shooting personal work with the Lexus RC F sports coupe, in the form of both video and stills. This project was a continuation of several previous works involving the Lexus RC F road car and the RC F GT3 IMSA race car.

On the subject of race cars, Nate was treated to an amazing day at the track with Mazda and Road & Track Magazine, spending time up close with the rotary-powered heroes of the ‘80s and ‘90s. Talk about childhood dreams coming true!

Summer season also saw the release of a story Nate shot last year in Stuttgart for 000 Magazine, featuring the Porsche 911 Clubsport prototype vehicle. This funky 911 paved the way for a number of similar production cars, and is blessed with (arguably) the most iconic automotive silhouette of all time.

Nate Hassler proudly calls Venice Beach California his home. Originally from Portland, Nate moved south about seven years ago to shoot cars. Today, Nate specializes in automotive photography both as still life and in motion. Racing is one of Nate's favorite things to shoot — he and his wife Lisa travel the world to shoot endurance racing a couple times a year.

When in doubt, just look for Nate and Lisa hiding out in the woods somewhere along the Nürburgring Nordschleife. That’s likely where you’ll find‘em.

Nate likes to shoot in studio as well as on location. His latest project, the Toyota Camry Bold Hero campaign, can be seen all over buildings and signs throughout major US cities (as well as in print and online).

Nate is currently working on post production from a recent video project, due to be released mid October.
