"As a photographer, I love to discover. Sometimes it's places that you would not visit otherwise, sometimes it's people with whom you create a strong bond in very short time and you may never see again.
This time I met a class of children that are becoming teenagers, and together we created a dance film. They live in the Paris suburbs with no good reputation, but they have so many dreams. I was so moved by their presence and strength. There is even more in their eyes than words can tell.
At the same time I continue to work for Hermès, Courreges, Saint Laurent and others as a photographer and video maker."

Portrait photographers
Brano Gilan has been developing a real passion for portraiture for many years. Through this practice he seeks to capture the immediacy of the present moment, to reveal the uniqueness and beauty of his subjects.
He is used to shoot at fashion shows and events. He captures the atmosphere and emotions of the event.
Recently he has made a dance film and portraits of dancers in full movement for the Triennale Milano, in collaboration with a choreographer. These dance portraits express the spontaneity, vivacity and energy of adolescence through the immediacy of movement. By doing so, they create detailed portraits of these young individuals, with their strengths and weaknesses.
Hermès invited him to make video portraits of the potters at Saint Louis Cristallerie to show their unique know-how and the tradition of the house.

Paris
Brano Gilan is a Slovak photographer and director living in Paris. He studied at the Gobelins - Ecole de l'Image school. At the end of his training in 2004, he joined the Granon laboratory, where he later became one of the six shareholders.
For eight years, he was in charge of retouching and accompanied fashion photographers on shoots and in the laboratory. There he met the English photographer Steve Hiett, whom he assisted for more than ten years.
This was a seminal encounter that would influence his own practice and the aesthetics of his imagery. At the same time, he turned to video and made films about fashion and crafts. In 2013, Brano became an independent director, specialising in the making of art films.
He works for Hermès, assiduously, and creates films highlighting the know-how of the brands' craftsmen. He films fashion shows and backstage at Chanel, Dior and Louis Vuitton.
Passionate about the art of gesture, Brano began filming dance and performance art in 2016 - yet his favourite subject is portrait photography.
