Gonçalo Barriga has always spent most of his free time doing sports, so photographing athletes in their habitat just comes naturally.

He is a portrait, lifestyle and sports photographer and has been taking pictures professionally since 2010, shooting events for Ironman and Red Bull, promos for health clubs and CrossFit gyms, editorial portraits of athletes, and other active lifestyle imagery.

His images are bold and strong, like the people in them.

Life in a Box, an ongoing personal project showcasing CrossFit athletes, was distinguished with a Honourable Mention in the prestigious International Photography Awards 2020.
