Erik Chmil
Cologne
Erik Chmil is one of the leading German high-end advertising photographers. He has been working for the automobile industry in various countries across the globe since 1993.
His recent work includes Porsche Panamera, BMW 6er and Volkswagen Eos. Erik also offers in-house post production with Jörg Klein.
Clients include Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Opel, Chevrolet, Fiat, Suzuki, Porsche, BMW and Volkswagen. Also featured in this Spotlight are the 'making of' videos from the BMW 6er and Cabri productions shot on location in Spain.
Erik's awards include Lürzer's Archive 2010/2011 '200 Best AD Photographers Worldwide', a 2008 ADC award for the Image book 'Discover Steel' (Thyssen Krupp), and a 2011 ADC Bronze for Joachim Wissler's 'JW4' cookbook.
Erik is represented in Germany, Austria and Switzerland by PAM-Mirjam Böhm.

Cologne: Hochkeppler & Schmitt
Anne-Marie Hochkeppler and Edith Schmitt have been successfully working together at their photo studio in Cologne for over 20 years. During this long period the pair have gained a huge amount of experience in many different areas and have become specialists in both still life and food photography.
Product affinity and the care taken to show as much detail as possible are the two most important aspects of their work.
Client ideas are always the most import starting point for Hochkeppler and Schmitt. Through their pictorial language and composition they regularly create impressive images.

In this Showcase, photographer Erik Chmil presents a selection of his latest work:
- A current project for US Agency RPA (Rubin Postaer & Associates, Santa Monica, CA) for client Acura.
- Erik presents his exhibition 'From Becoming to Being' at the Photan photo-art gallery in Leipzig, in which he shows images taken from the development of the new BMW factory. Erik uses his camera to document the early beginnings of the building through its star achitect Zaha Hadid. The opening night of the exhibition will be held on 13th June at 19:30h.

Recent projects from Erik Chmil:
- A shoot for Rubin Postaer (Santa Monica, CA). The photographer will begin another California-based project for client Acura in the coming weeks.
- Cover and inside cover, along with many other images, for BMW Business Report, 2007. Locations: Los Angeles, Paris and Malaga. Agency: Häfelinger & Wagner, Munich.
- Studio-based car shots, observing the correct perspective and light conditions for the photos to be imported into 3D computer-designed environments.
Erik also has a new agent, Mirjam Böhm at PAM Hamburg.

Cologne [Germany]: Erik Chmil
Automobile and architecture, people and places, advertising and editorial... an entire world of pictures. For several years, Erik Chmil has been creating what he describes as "a new picture language" for national and international agencies and automobile clients.
Since switching to high-resolution digital photography, Erik and his partner have managed the entire production process for each project - from the shoot to creative retouching through to printable data.
After jobs this last month for clients including Porsche, Opel and Acura, Erik is now working on a project for the BMW annual report. His long-term projects, landscape photographs and such series as 'Where to Park', can be seen at LUMAS gallery. -

A round-up of the latest news from photographer Erik Chmil:- He was booked by DLKW London to shoot the latest campaign for the new Opel Astra Notchback.
- Travelling across Brazil, Erik shot landscapes for ThyssenKrupp for the haefelinger+wagner design agency in Munich.
- He shot pictures of the new Porsche GT2 for Klaus E. Kuester in Spain and Austria. The team also spent 4 weeks shooting the new Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet along beautiful coastal roads in Australia.
- Erik will soon spend four days in a car studio in Duesseldorf working with CGI.
- He shot images for Suzuki-Swift. Agency: Hundertgrad. Creative Director: Michael Spengler.

Young photographer Dominik Pietsch recently started his own business. Shooting from his 200sq metre digitally equipped studio, he specialises in portrait, people and music photography. He also handles his own postproduction.The self-taught newcomer has been working freelance since the beginning of 2007. Amongst his clients are agency Goldenen Hirschen, German Medical Publishing Company, and graffiti artist SEAK (Claus Winkler).
