His work for magazines and major companies has taken him to over 30 countries, with the diversity of his images reflecting a unique insight into different cultures and dedication to an impressive variety of topics.

Markus was born near Cologne in 1960 and lived in Amman, Jordan for the first seven years of his life. This region fascinates him up to the present with its light, solitude and aridity. For the past 15 years he has made countless trips to the United Arab Emirates and Oman, and currently lives in Dubai.

Markus follows his own instincts and ideas rather than prescribing to any particular photographic philosophy. Aesthetics and precision, enthusiasm and commitment are his quality guarantees.

In nearly three decades he has created numerous films, photo books and travel guides in diverse locations from Alaska to Oman, from the cold shores of the North Sea to the green meadows of the German Alps.
