Paralelo 60
Montevideo
Paralelo 60° is a new photo production company in South America. Based in Montevideo, the team has eight years of production experience across commercials, TV shows and films and has been working together as freelancers since 2009.
"Paralelo 60° is the parallel that marks the northern limit of the Atlantic Ocean and the Antarctic Treaty System. The latitudes south of this parallel are often referred to as the "Screaming 60s" due to the prevailing high-speed, westerly winds which can generate large waves in excess of 15m and peak wind speeds over 145 km/h. This is the parallel you have to cross if you are going by boat to the Antarctica as we did in January 2014.
For our last project we decided to go a bit more extreme than usual, travelling by boat to the Uruguayan base in Antartica. It was a long sea journey but the beauty of the silence and all that white was definitely worth it."
