Title: 'Drag ft. Elektra Shock'.
Location: Kingsize Studios.
"For this particular shoot, I wanted to create an introspective portrait that captures a moment mid de-drag—a transitional phase often overlooked in the spectacle of performance.
This image embodies the aftermath of a show, where the facade drops, revealing the intricate layers of identity beneath. The smudged makeup, the visible ripped wig cap, and glimmering earrings in this unvarnished moment reflect the duality of the performer: both the dazzling persona that captivates audiences and the authentic individual who exists beyond the stage lights.
Having collaborated with Elektra previously, I was keenly aware of her multifaceted talent as a performer and her ability to infuse raw emotion into every moment. Elektra is known for her brilliant performances on 'RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under', and having an illustrious career both as a dancer, choreographer and creative director. Elektra has the ability to seamlessly blend artistry with truth, making her ideal for this project.
While we captured multiple compelling images that I loved, this one particular shot kept pulling me back. It was one of the first shots we took, it has an unguarded quality that drew me in. This moody, enigmatic photograph stirs curiosity about what she could possibly be thinking while she sits in the silence of it all."

Title: The Fencer
Location: Kingsize Studios, Auckland, New Zealand. "This is a part of an ongoing personal series, in which I look into capturing different sports and their movements.
I was so taken with the sport of fencing, how elegant and regal it is in its movement. I also love the anonymity of the mask; there is something so intriguing about not being able to see the opponent’s face, which puts more focus put on the fencer’s form and stature."

Title: Under the Bougainvillea Tree
"This image was about capturing the essence of summer. The colours, the light and the cheekiness of the girls as they lie in the grass and play with the bougainvillea flowers. I wanted it to feel like an observed moment, shooting through the flowers gives us a sense of depth and the colours softly frame the girls.
This image was shot in the setting afternoon sun which gives us that beautiful even wash of light across the scene. These two girls are sisters, and I really looked at capturing their playful dynamic on camera. My approach to this image was to set up the scene and then have the girls interact naturally, the frame was crafted but the moment was authentic.
I really enjoy the energy and the spontaneity of this shot, it captures a youthfulness and ease of a moment that feels carefree."
