Welcome to our new edition of Showcase New York. This edition features the work of talented photographers and directors, as well as a selection of top full-service production companies and one rental studio.
In this edition of the Showcase, you'll discover a cover shoot featuring Academy Award nominee Lily Gladstone, a Volvo commercial that celebrates the beauty in small details, and a series of back-lit snack food photographs that are as playful as they are artful.
Our featured editorial was captured by Clara Pafundi. 'Market couture' was captured for Eazy Tiger magazine by Clara, an Argentinian-born photographer & director currently residing in Brooklyn. Further discover outstanding creatives in our New York Directory and previous issues of Showcase Magazine.
The city is hosting an array of event-worthy photographic exhibitions, including:
Brooklyn Museum hosts Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–64: Eyes of the Storm. The Beatles’ founding member captured the frenzy of Beatlemania on his Pentax camera. More than 250 of his photos reveal his singular vantage point at the center of this whirlwind of attention and adoration. Many of the prints buzz with the electricity of 1960s New York City.
Fotografiska New York presents the first major retrospective in the United States of the invisible artist Vivian Maier’s extraordinary work. Maier spent her early years in New York City, where she began to photograph the world around her and develop a visual language, all while working as a nanny.
The Bronx Documentary Center (BDC) holds its 7th annual Latin American Foto Festival (LAFF) from July 11-28, featuring large-scale photographs by both emerging and established, award-winning photographers.
