As we reach the end of the year, it’s the perfect time to look back at the amazing work that the VUE photographers have been involved with.

Shamil Tanna has produced more exciting imagery for Amazon, Movember and Puma, along with new commissions for Formula-E, 10Bet and Department of Education. Alan Powdrill has had some fun with his new stills and moving image content for National Express, featuring bewildered students returning home to find their parents behaving badly!
 
Garry Simpson has been working hard on the back of TVC again, shooting the stills for ASDA’s Christmas campaign and shooting several ad’s for BT home hub over the year with magical creatures invading your spaces. Morgan Silk’s work for the RAF Benevolent Fund – a lovely portrait of RAF veteran Ron – has been released to coincide with their centenary campaign. 

In the summer, David Sykes was asked to do a fashion shoot with a difference: a series of lively dogs for design magazine Monocle along with new commissions from Taylors Coffee, Virgin Trains and Greenies. Danielle Wood created some beautiful Old Master inspired work for Culture magazine and worked on some great new work for Quarter Oats.

Playing with her food again, Debby Lewis-Harrison has produced a series of word art moving images with some brilliant themes whilst also working on some delicious briefs for Tate & Lyle’s Golden Syrup and BBC. Kerry Harrison made people eat a lot of cake on the Konditor shoot. He also shot a more serious campaign for the children’s mental health charity Place2Be. He worked extremely hard on some challenging shoot with Mettle and Alpro.

Meanwhile, Dylan Collard launched a collaborative project involving his Instagram followers in an online treasure hunt to spot his photos on London bus sides to win an exclusive print!

The last few months have seen some great output from Anna Michell including a celebrity cover for Khush Magazine; lookbooks for Chester Barrie shot on location in a grand home in Hertfordshire; and Tailor Made London, for which Anna also painted a bespoke canvas background. Other projects ranged from a male beauty shoot with Madre Studio Jewellery, to portraits of celebrity chefs in the splendid interior of Fishmonger’s Hall.

In addition to commissioned work, she is proud to have made a strong portfolio of self-directed projects over the summer. She has a studio in Bermondsey and also shoots on locations from sunny Seville to windy Scotland.

Ben Appleby is an award-winning still life photographer. From his studio in the UK he has become known for crafting images with strong composition, vibrant colours and a graphic style.

Before becoming a photographer, Ben trained and worked as a retoucher. His in-depth knowledge of image editing allows him to approach shoots with this in mind and lets him push the boundaries of what is possible with traditional photography. Whether retouching images himself or liaising with post production teams, Ben is well versed in delivering projects from initial concept through to completion.

Recent clients include Diechmann, Next, Sainsbury's, Chaiiwala and Brockmans Gin to name a few.

Studio Dominic Davies is a still life photography practice that focuses on drinks and food photography. UK-based but commissioned globally to work on briefs for advertising agencies, design droups, museums and publishing houses.

He works with a creative team of stylists, model makers and set designers to complete bespoke images for a wide range of clients. Experimental and collaborative in approach, the studio brings a precise and crafted vision to all its projects, driven by the fascination with exploring and realising ideas photographically. Work has been exhibited in France, USA, and the Victoria & Albert Museum London. 

Dominic was also the recipient of the James Beard Award for Photography.

Kathrin McCrea is a London-based Danish photographer specialising in food, people and environments.

She has worked with branding and advertising companies for 20 years and has a great understanding of her clients needs. Her passion for aesthetics and food led her to where she is now and she has never looked back.

Barry Willis has been producing engaging people and lifestyle images for almost 30 years and still loves every day at work.

His images seek to express emotions through the informality of the caught moment delivered with the polish of high-end production values. “I enjoy the collaboration of working with a creative team on large productions but equally, when the subject requires, I relish shooting with a more intimate approach”.

Graham Tooby is a British photographer with a distinctive and recognisable photographic approach with a methodical shooting style, inspired by shaping light and technical shots.

"Building up to the winter months seems to show in the darker imagery for client and for test shots."

Gary Latham is an award-winning photographer based in the UK and working worldwide.

"I like to take pictures. I'm interested in people, culture, society and a sense of place. I travel a lot. I'm a romantic of sorts. I was once described as having a 19th Century sensibility. I like nostalgia, found things and a touch of fantasy."

Gary specialises in travel photography, landscape, food and people. Recent projects include features for Food and Travel magazine, Lonely Planet magazine and Nat Geo Food magazine amongst others. Gary also shoots lifestyle and interiors for Tesco, Fairmont Hotels Group, and National Tourist Boards throughout Europe.

With a wealth of experience, Duncan Loughrey has a keen eye for detail, is technically adept, and thrives on a bit of problem solving.

An expert at retouching too, Duncan likes to keep most post-production work in-house, allowing complete control through all stages of the image making process.

Happy to shoot in studio or on location, Duncan undertakes every shoot in an enthusiastic, professional and friendly manner.

London-based Filip Gierlinski creates visual stories and powerful photography for travel, commercial and editorial clients.

Beautiful portraits, spectacular action, personalities and stunning visuals is what Filip brings to every photo shoot. His ability to connect with a subject, work within a brief/vision and deliver powerful imagery makes for a great combination, be it shooting the glamour at Royal Ascot,  Golf pro’s on their PGA Tour, or a Mongolian camel herder.  Filip is also expanding his portrait styles at his wonderful new studio in Surrey.

Danielle Wood is a London-based photographer specialising in food. Working with a small team of experts Danielle creates beautiful, fresh and vibrant images for a wide range of clients.

This year she has been busy producing delicious images for clients such as Marks & Spencer, Quaker Oats, Slimming World and Compass. 

Danielle has recently been to Hamburg to shoot a fantastic advertising campaign for a German supermarket with advertising agency Jung von Matt which goes live this month.

In-between working for commercial clients, Danielle has just finished shooting a book for Harper Collins and photographing some mouth-watering British cheeses for American magazine Culture.

Clive Sherlock, a food photography specialist based in South London, has contributed some truly mouthwatering images to this Showcase, as well as his beautifully filmed "Itamae" video, an exquisite portrayal of the skills of a Sushi chef, commissioned by top London Sushi restaurant So.

Clive has been working with high-level clients for over 20 years in the design, publishing and advertising fields. He is as passionate about his work as the chefs are about theirs, paying as much attention to the most intricate details of composition and lighting as chefs do to their seasoning.

Nick Tydeman is a fashion and lifestyle photographer based in the UK.

He has experience executing a wide range of briefs, working with high end fashion brands.

Phil Babb is an established advertising photographer who is best known for his images of kids; new-borns, toddlers, teens, twins and tearaways have been photographed for consumer print and digital media be it for e-com, packaging, pharmaceutical, social media or poster campaigns. Phil’s meticulous eye for casting and attention to detail is enthusiastically matched by his sense of fun and easy going and approachable personality both in the studio and on location.

Based in the north of the UK, John Baxter provides corporate and editorial photography for business and publishing clients.

Gareth has been at the fore of cutting edge food photography for the past 15 years and is always keen to play with imagery both technically and creatively.

Adapting these techniques to work within the growing moving image realm has been his biggest passion over the last couple of years.

Dean Northcott has had a very busy and successful year with both his personal and commissioned work. His vibrant new style for his personal work saw him as a Finalist at the 2019 AOP awards and a winner at the 2019 Colour awards. This led to exciting commissions in his commercial work with advertising shoots for Maverick, HM Government and O2 Arena, amongst others.

Born in New Zealand, Dean was raised on a diet of sport, barbeques and beach. After several years of world travel in his early 20s during which time he developed his sense of aesthetics, he arrived camera-in-hand in London in the early 90s and went on to study Photography at LCP.

A former semi-pro rugby player, a third Dan black-belt in karate and marathon runner, sport is at the epicentre of Dean's entire life and this is exemplified in the mood and texture of his work.
