    Anton Watts, Australian born director and content creator based between Los Angeles and London, has been working on some exciting projects over the past six months.

    Anton’s not only shooting stills but has also been working as a director/ DP. One of his latest projects was with the Audi ETRON GT called “Sanctuary", which incorporates stills and a short film, which was shot out at El Mirage in California in collaboration with the Catapult team.

    Anton and his team also shot the 2024 Toyota Hylander campaign which traveled them up to the Bay Area and north of San Fransico, also consisting of stills and video, which is coming soon.

    Anton also collaborated on a short film with Catapult called "Red is the Fastest Color".

    Anton finished off the year shooting with Ferrari, Toyota, Lexus, Infiniti, Mercedes and Porsche.

    Australian born Los Angeles-based photographer, director and content creator Anton Watts has been extremely busy during 2022.

    Starting off the year with Genesis GV60, 70 and 80 locally in Los Angeles, then Chevrolet trucks that took Anton and his team to Arizona for three weeks shooting the Silverado range, then the launch of the new Lexus RX in California, also taking him to Madrid for the European launch of the same car.

    Next up was a Toyota Corolla lifestyle shoot  and a Rav 4 ad campaign in Barcelona, on to Ferrari in Norway shooting on the spectacular Atlantic Road and then over to the amazing Nurburgring in Germany.

    To finish off the year, Anton worked with Mercedes, BMW, Infiniti, and Porsche. Most of these projects will be shown in 2023 due to their launch dates. Anton did manage to squeeze in a couple personal shoots though and here’s the story.

    ‘Fall in love not in line’ is a personal project of Anton's, which is both playful and edgy with an anti-establishment vibe. This story features two quirky models with tons of attitude, interacting with one another and the classic Mercedes 280 SL, in a manner that is believable and relatable to the viewer, although they hadn’t met before.

    The Acura NSX Type S was shot for MullenLowe US at the amazing COTA track in Austin, Texas, with production by Ink & Oranges.

    Anton hit the ground running with multiple projects for 2021, all of them involving hybrid stills and video production. Now out of embargo, we can present some of the work. One of these projects was the code red shoot with the electric Lexus LF-Z for Team One where Anton directed both film and stills. The film incorporates heavy VFX combined with practical shooting, with a CGI component for the stills.

    Additionally, Anton directed four films for the Infiniti QX55 shot in and around Downtown Los Angeles, again combining stills. 

    In between, Anton shot a personal project with a Bugatti Chiron and completed a CGI project with Curve Digital for the Audi RSQ8.

    Since our last Cars and Landscape Spotlight in September, photographer, director and content creator Anton Watts has delivered multiple projects, with an obvious emphasis on CGI during the lockdown months we all found ourselves in.

    First up was a CGI campaign with Team One for the Lexus ISF, followed by two CGI shoots with Saatchi for Toyota in San Francisco and Downtown LA. Anton also shot the new Acura MDX with Mullen in Lake Tahoe, and the Genesis GV80 with Innocean. Additionally with Innocean, Anton shot the stills campaign and directed the launch film for the all new 2021 Hyundai Tucson.

    Anton finished the year with two more Code Red projects, again shooting stills and directing four films. These are currently embargoed, but will be shown in the next Spotlight.

    In this full CGI Polestar1 project Anton collaborated with Curve Digital. The concept was to not only create a car in CG but to also create its environment. Anton supplied visual reference from Nordic locations, including tree types, islands, road shapes, and architectural designs.

    One of the most important points was to create the correct type of light - Anton wanted to have the mist and mood of a Scandinavian morning. Curve approached this by experimenting with volumetric fog and various kinds of CG noise. This in combination with sun position generated the appropriate look.

    Nick Limb, CEO of Curve said: "We loved the challenge of working on this project with Anton, and the beauty of using full CGI gave us the ability to control the light whilst retaining the delicacy of the mist/fog, which was essential for the final overall look and feel."

    Four different cars, four different ‘days in the life of’ stories, each with talent, together with eight supporting videos for social, soon to be released. The production took Anton to NYC, Montauk and Los Angeles.

    Anton Watts’s background in fashion photography and his long-standing commercial collaboration with Lexus led to his recent shoot for the new Lexus UX Crossover in NYC for the March issue of Essential Homme magazine.

    Featuring model Ben Bowers from IMG, the shoot was styled by Terry Lu, with wardrobe and accessories by Sandro, Stella McCartney,  Ermenegildo Zegna, Chaos, Berluti, Hermes, Salvatore Ferragamo, Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, Tallia Orange, Boss, Breguet, Fendi and Bally.

    The Mazda 3 launch was directed by Anton and shot in Budapest.

    Anton Watts took time out of his hectic schedule in late 2018 to realise some personal work.

    Boxing is a subject that has long captivated photographers, from the raw physicality of the athletes to the clothes, to the environment and to the mood of the sport.

    Anton brought his characteristic cinematic approach to this story, creating a Havana-style fight club mood by casting a kick-boxing teacher / actor, and using a Mercedes 220 SE b and Arri lighting.  Atmospheric storytelling, pure and simple.

    Other projects included Mazda (film and print launch), BMW, Bentley, Nissan and Hyundai.

    Anton Watts' latest project for Mercedes - AMG features the GLC 63 S. The location for the shoot in the Bloomfield Hills area of Detroit was a mid-century modern house designed by internationally renowned modernist architect, Glen Paulsen.

    The film featured in this Spotlight is the launch campaign for the Acura NSX commissioned by Mullen. Introducing the new colour, thermal orange pearl, the first part of the film was shot and treated to look as if produced on a thermal camera, before the reveal to the actual launch colour.

    Other projects include BMW 3, 4 and 5 Series, Ford Mustang, Hyundai Nexo and Veloster, and Subaru
