Superstudio and Patrik Johall were assigned by Volvo to deliver print elements media in relation to “The Future is Electric” global campaign.
Adhering to the framework of a strong creative film concept, Superstudio produced still images that supported and expanded the settings and expressions in the campaign.
The stills were to be perceived as part of the film and were also to be used as stand-alone campaign images, so Superstudio’s expertise in the field of automotive photography was beneficial in expressing the product and locations in a broader delivery that could be used independently.
The field of scope included props and location casting. The social media campaign deliverables included conceptual development in cooperation with the client.

Title: The Grand Hall
"We got the assignment from Volvo Cars to create a studio environment resembling a grand architectural setting, all made in a controlled environment. The idea was to capture something new in the automotive industry, still keeping the car as the hero to tell the story, but in a more reduced setting. This image is one in a series of images shot over a couple of days and everything is created in camera with minimum set extension and post work.
We try to push the boundaries in all of our work, combining creativity with quality and skilled execution. Achieving this is made possible with the trust of the client, and Volvo Cars is great when it comes to experimenting with visual languish. The series was our first in a row of studio settings created for the brand."

"This image is shot in Skye, Scotland for the launch of the new Volvo V90CC, featuring the model Fanny Fournier. The idea behind this image, and many other images we created for Volvo, is to capture an authentic feeling, something more than just a shot of a product. We strove to find the right conditions to portray this, always using natural light."
